Bradwell B Volunteers Transform School Garden

In scenes resembling ITV show ‘Love Your Garden,’ a green fingered team from Bradwell B helped to transform the gardens at Purleigh Community Primary School this week.

The volunteers gave the school gardens some extra love and care by clearing overgrown space, re-locating the bug hotel and planting a range of insect friendly plants to create a peaceful and relaxing area for teachers and pupils to enjoy.

Alongside the time donated by Bradwell B, the garden had new plants donated by the school’s PTA and Claremont’s Garden Centre.

Michelle St Martin, Volunteering Coordinator at Bradwell B said, “We were delighted to spend a day at Purleigh. We all had a great day away from our desks and enjoyed doing something positive for the community. The school was really welcoming and it was rewarding to see how different the area looked after a few hours.”

Neil Stotter, Headteacher at Purleigh Community Primary School said, “I am really happy with how much the team has achieved in a day. The place has completely changed and been lifted. Our special garden has been restocked with the butterfly and insect plants for which it is intended.

“I would also like to say a massive thank you to the staff at Claremont Nursery for their amazing help and kindness as well as our super PTA for their generosity. Mrs St Martin and her volunteer team have taken this magical area and made it sparkle. It is looking great and is ready for the children to benefit from again when they return to school.”
