Investigative works update – March 2018

Dear Resident,

Update on site investigative works at Bradwell B

BRB GenCo Ltd. commenced early site investigations at the proposed Bradwell B site (BRB) in December 2017. Following Maldon District Council’s approval of our planning application for more intrusive works, including the use of boreholes, we plan to start these further activities in March 2018.

These works are to help us understand the geology at the site and will ultimately help inform our proposals for developing the Bradwell B new nuclear power station.

No work will be carried out within any residential area and it is not expected to have an impact on the local community. This phase of activity is anticipated to last for up to 6 months. The enclosed plan gives an indication of where these investigation works will take place, including where boreholes may be located. Note that this may be subject to change dependent on our findings.

During this period up to 35 people may be on site at peak times with associated transport movements.

We will continue to keep you informed as we undertake investigative work on-site. Once we have sufficient information we will be able to formulate and publish proposals for Bradwell B, at which point we will undertake detailed public consultation. However, this whole process will take several years, and we remain only in the very early stages.
